The Cold War is the name given to the relationship that developed primarily between the USA and the USSR after World War Two. The Cold War brought about geopolitical polarization, ideological realignments, and economic struggle between two world superpowers.
The differences over distribution of spoils of 2nd World War and emergence of new super powers created a paradigm of bipolarity in the world. This paradigm was manifested in the form of Cold War between USA and erstwhile USSR and the remaining world by and large revolved around these poles of power.
the political and cultural war waged by Communists and Capitalists was a confrontation which spanned from subtle espionage to violent combat in the tropical jungles of Vietnam. It ranged from stockpiles of nuclear weapons which could destroy world many times over to technologically-advanced satellites in space. Rivals powers attacked each other with propaganda and economic measures, and with a general policy of non-cooperation.
